If there's one thing destined to disappear in Spain, it's the rush to renew your parking ticket. More and more apps are allowing you to pay for parking using your mobile phone. One such app is EYSAMobile , a free application that lets you park your car in a regulated zone without having to go to the parking meter or leave a receipt in your vehicle, as payment is made directly with your mobile phone.
The operation is quite simple, although there must be a prior agreement with the town hall of the town where you want to park in order to use it. If that is the case, you just have to download the app, sign up (with email, mobile phone, credit card or PayPal and registration), and then select the city and how much you want to charge the card. This will be the balance to pay for the different parking meters.
Once you have everything set up, you can start using the app. The main menu displays various options (park, cancel ticket, top-up, current transactions, and history). To park, simply enter your license plate number, indicate the parking zone (if available), the desired rate, and the end date of your parking session. After confirming the payment, you're all set. In some cities, there's also an "Unpark" option, which refunds the amount paid for the unused parking time.
The app also includes a history of all activity , which lets you know how much you've spent on parking meters over time.
This option is available, for the moment, in Madrid, Murcia, Salamanca, Burgos, La Rioja, Ciudad Real, Lleida and Ibiza. It is also available in Pola de Siero (Asturias), Miranda de Ebro and Aranda de Duero (Burgos), Mollet del Vallés (Barcelona), Platja d'Aro (Tarragona), Guardamar (Alicante), Cartagena (Murcia), and Salobreña ( Grenade).
The app is free and available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Blackberry.
