Everwood Capital has taken another step in its strategy to consolidate refrigerated transport in the Iberian Peninsula. The investment fund has acquired Palomo Group, a group of companies specializing in temperature-controlled logistics, to integrate it into Prontia LogÃstica, the platform that brings together all its cold chain assets.
The transaction includes Transportes Hijos de Marino Palomo, its subsidiary Frijaf, and Servicios Filiares Burgaleses (SFB), companies based in Torrijos (Toledo) and Burgos. These companies have a combined turnover of 25 millones de euros and a fleet of nearly 300 trucks, which strengthens the group's operational capacity on both national and international routes.
An operation that strengthens the cold chain
Transportes Hijos de Marino Palomo has accumulated more than 70 years of experience Frijaf specializes in freight transport, refrigerated transport, and warehousing. The company has over one hundred vehicles, provides national and international services, and boasts 3.000 square meters of logistics facilities. The creation of Frijaf allowed the company to expand its specialization in refrigerated transport.
For its part, Servicios Filiares Burgaleses (SFB) operates in both general cargo and temperature-controlled transport, with national and European routes. Its fleet also exceeds one hundred vehicles, equipped with real-time location and management systems from its operational facilities in Burgos. The transaction was handled by ABL & New York Associates, who served as the seller's exclusive financial and legal advisor.
Prontia LogÃstica, Everwood's cold storage platform
The creation of Prontia LogÃstica reflects the desire to integrate capabilities, generate operational synergies, and offer a unified value proposition in the cold chain segment. Prior to this acquisition, the group already had approximately 160 million euros of turnover, more than 1.000 employees and a fleet of more than 1.400 vehicles, after the integration of Transportes Cruz, Transmolbo, Tudefrigo and MBCold Logistics.
The cold chain is one of the five strategic pillars of Everwood's Transport and Logistics Fund, along with airport logistics, the port supply chain, last-mile delivery, and logistics technology. With this latest acquisition, Prontia expands its geographic coverage and strengthens its presence in Castile and León, Castile-La Mancha, and the Valencian Community.
Consolidation strategy in the sector
The acquisition of Grupo Palomo adds to the long list of operations These deals were carried out by Everwood Capital's Transport and Logistics Fund. The firm, which manages over €900 million and has completed more than 60 transactions, has become one of the most active investors in the transformation of transport and logistics in Spain and Portugal.
The fund focuses its investments on operators with growth potential to drive professionalization, digitalization, and business integration. In the refrigerated transport sector, this strategy has enabled the creation of a sizable group that competes with the main players in the Iberian market.
With the acquisition of Grupo Palomo, Prontia LogÃstica is positioning itself as a leading operator in cold chain logistics, capable of offering temperature-controlled transport services with extensive geographic coverage and a modern, digitized fleet. This transaction demonstrates Everwood Capital's commitment to consolidating a traditionally fragmented sector.
